Kura (schools) and communities across Aotearoa use te reo Māori every day. You might hear it in assemblies, newsletters, signs, or in the language taiohi (young people) bring home.

Learning just a few kupu (words) can help you feel more confident to:

• Be more connected to your child’s day
• Understand school and community events and gatherings
• Support your taiohi to feel proud of their language and culture

In this module we’ll take a hīkoi (walk) through the school day, from arrival to home time. At each stage, you’ll see and hear common te reo Māori words - with explanations and prompts to help you try them out.
